KUCHING: Lo Khere Chiang, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Batu Kitang, describes this state election as electing the “right leader and the right policy” to protect the rights of the state and its people.
Thus, he urged the people to decide wisely by supporting Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his team.
He said Adenan is a people-oriented leader and has come up with several policies and changes for the sake of the state and the people.
“I see this election as a very important election because it is about electing the right leader … so the people ought to make a wise choice (by electing Adenan and his team),” Lo said yesterday during his visit to participants of 1Azam programme at Kpg Bumbok here.
The programme is under the care of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), to help the poor under its jurisdiction.
Lo, who is also MPP chairman, said Adenan has been vocal in protecting the rights of the state as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963, which is very important for the future generation.
He noted that Adenan has come up with various policies to reduce the burden of the people since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Lo who will face PKR candidate Voon Shiak Ni in the election is confident of winning the seat for BN, saying: “I’m confident of winning, although not 100 per cent (of winning) because in politics, anything can happen.” Batu Kitang, which is carved out from Kota Sentosa, is among the 11 new seats created after the re-delineation exercise last year.
On the 1Azam programme, Lo said it benefited 12 families last year and 10 participants the previous year.
He said the council would continue with the programme this year, adding that three families would each receive RM10,000 for renovation of their houses this year.
