Lo Khere Chiang admits being a potential candidate - New Sarawak Tribune Reported on Friday, 20 April 2012



KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang said he is among the candidates who had been proposed by the Kota Sentosa branch of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) for the upcoming general election.

However, he also admitted that there is another candidate who has also been proposed to contest there by the same party.

“I can say my name is among many names that have been proposed by the SUPP to the highest federal and the state Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership.

“It means that I am considered a potential candidate to fulfil the responsibility.However, the rest of the candidates are good and experienced as well,” he told reporters after leading the inspection and monitoring of business operator as well as food handlers, in Taman Lee Ling Commercial Centre, here yesterday.

Before this, speculation was rife on Lo being the suitable candidate to contest for Stampin parliamentary seat, taking over from Dato’ Yong Khoon Seng.

The Public Works Deputy Minister had said before this about his desire not to defend his seat for the upcoming general election.

在四月十五日也邀请得巴达旺市议会主席罗克强先生前来为本林的新网页主持推展。在推 展礼上,罗克强主席认为,世界已迈入网络时代,因此不论7岁的小学生或70岁的老人,都必须知道如何使用网络功能。同时,罗克强主席也赞扬古晋佛教居士林 把30多年来所取得的辉煌成就,以及所主办过的佛教文化活动,都一一放在网上,让全世界的人都可以在网上查阅。

“随着古晋佛教居士林的网页推展,大家随时随地都可以在网上搜寻佛教居士林的资讯。”

除此之外,他也赞扬本林通过各项活动,积极推动佛教教育及文化,以及创办的菩提幼儿园,已经成为古晋数一数二的幼儿园,栽培无数的幼儿成才。

同时,他也指出佛教新村设立骨灰塔,带动了火化风气,改变了本地传统的殡葬文化。

另一方面,本林秘书长拿督斯里蔡展文先生在受邀致词时也强调,随着科技时代发达,推动社会不断的发展与进步,不懂得使用电脑或掌握科技,就犹如文盲。

他指出,互联网的普及化,已成为整个社会生活的一个重要工具。厂商、教育机构、宗教团体甚至政府机构纷纷用网络上微博、面子书或部落格,处理工作。

不过,他指出,电脑网络也有其对小孩产生不良影响的一面。目前,政府正在大力推广电脑,改善网络服务,让我国逐渐迈向先进国前进。

他说,古晋佛教居士林除以人力弘法外,也利用互联网让外界了解本林的活动,借以达到推广佛教的目的。

Safety: Parks and playgrounds under Padawan closed

All children playgrounds and recreational parks in the jurisdiction of the Padawan Municipal Council have been ordered to close as a precautionary measure against the spread of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).

The decision was made during during a recent meeting and it was made in accordance with directive from the State Health Department.

The playgrounds and parks will be closed with immediate effect, and they shall be re-opened when the HFMD situation in Sarawak improves.

Among the recreational areas and playgrounds are those in Matang, Semaba, Country Ville, RPR Batu Kawa, Jubli Emas, Telaga Air Waterfront, Moyan Utama, Haji Baki, Genesis Garden, Olive Garden, Siburan, Beratok, Batu Gong, Sebuak, Dahlia, Mei Lee Garden, Mei Lee Villa, Mutiara housing estate, Lian Hua housing estate, Pitcher Plant Preservation Centre at Kota Padawan, and Wawasan and Phoenix housing estates in Kota Sentosa.
