No ugly fights here, says SUPP man for Batu Kitang

Lo Khere Chiang knows all the local issues as he was Padawan Municipal Council president.

KUCHING: SUPP candidate for Batu Kitang, Lo Khere Chiang, does not predict “ugly fights” between Barisan Nasional (BN), the Opposition parties and independent candidates during the 12-day campaign period.

“People in Sarawak are a ‘peaceful lot’. We do not believe in riots and even the street rallies here are relatively small in numbers,” he said after securing his nomination.

Lo, who was the Padawan Municipal Council president, is contesting against PKR’s Voon Shiak Ni, DAP’s Abdul Aziz Isa as well as independent candidates, businessman Othman Bojeng and retiree Sulaiman Kadir.

“It will be an interesting and challenging fight,” he added.

Lo also believes both Pakatan Harapan candidates vying to be the assemblyman were not fighting each other.

“They are complementing one another,” he said, adding that if he was elected, he will fight for the people’s basic amenities.

“I know the community issues in Batu Kitang as I’ve been attached to the council for almost 20 years.

“If I am the assemblyman, I can present it to the Dewan (state assembly), to the ministers and maybe the heads of departments.”
