KUCHING: A dialogue session with local
Chinese hawkers on the “National Loan Scheme” under the 1Malaysia Chinese
Hawker and Petty Traders Micro Credit Scheme took place at the Auditorium of
Kuching South City Council yesterday.
The event was organised by the council.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Dato’ Seri Mah Siew Keong, told
participants at the dialogue session that
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had allocated RM50 million
for the scheme.
“For the first implementation of the
scheme, the Prime Minister allocated
RM30 million.
“Within 10 months of the implementation
since June, 2015, 800 out of 1,200
applicants had their loans of RM5,000
to RM20,000 approved.
“However, the registration is still
on-going. We met the Prime Minister a few months ago to request for more
allocations and he allocated RM20 million to top up the funds,” added Mah.
He urged the people, in the forthcoming
State Election, to support the Barisan Nasional government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Datuk
Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem.
He also urged them to support Sarawak
United People’s Party (SUPP).
