Lo Khere Chiang promises to work hard

 Lo promises to work hard

KUCHING: Lo Khere Chiang from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) who was named Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the newly created  N13 Batu Kitang seat said he would work hard to win the seat for BN.

Batu Kitang seat is a new seat and as a new candidate in a new constituency, Lo, 56, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, is aware that there is a huge task head and a lot of expectation from him but he will work hard for it.

“I am definitely going to work hard for it and I am very confident that the rakyat will support SUPP and the Barisan Nasional  for Batu Kitang,”  he said when met by  reporters after  being named  as BN’s candidate for the Batu Kitang seat by BN Sarawak’s chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

The other candidates  from SUPP who were announced  by Adenan yesterday were Peter Pau  for N9 Padungan),  Milton  Foo Tian Wee ( N10 Pending),  Sih Hua Tong (N11 Batu Lintang),  Wilfred Yap  Yau Shin (N12 Kota Sentosa),  Datuk  Dr. Sim Kui  Hian (N14 Batu Kawa), Datuk Francis Hardin Hollis (N32 Simanggang),  Chieng Buong Toon (N51 Bukit Assek), Dato’ Sebastian Ting  Chiew Yew (N73 Piasau) and  Datuk Lee Kim Shin (N75 Senadin).

Lo added said he had been  working hard over the years and had been observing Sarawak politics over the last two years and  CM’s  style of leadership, very straight forward  and a lot of things that he had done in the interest of  the rakyat apart from championing  the rights of Sarawak.

“I believe that with my years of service and sincere work put into my constituency through MPP, and all the good things that Adenan has done, the election this time around is very important for Sarawakians.

“So I believe that the people of Sarawak do not have a lot of choices; we must support Adenan leadership for the sake of Sarawak, for the sake of our state’s economy, education, culture and for generation beyond us, our children and our grand children,” he said.

“And I think that  for this reason, I support Adenan’s leadership, and I am going to work hard to ensure that the rakyat will receive the message and will support  the Barisan Nasional and give Batu Kitang to Barisan Nasional in this election,”  he said.

“I am very confident that the rakyat will support SUPP and the Barisan Nasional and Adenan leadership and Adenan Team.  I am confident the community irrespective of whether they are Ibans, Bidayuhs, Malays, Chinese and irrespective of which sectors they are from,  everyone  will support  Adenan and his leadership,”  he said.

Lo said Batu Kitang’s population comprised 40 per cent Bumiputeras and 60 per cent Chinese.  And the issues on hands would be the normal infrastructure issues.

“I would to say these are the normal infrastructure issues – roads, drains, but to me these are not issues that cannot be solved.  It is a sign that our people are progressing and the standard of living is improving and they want something better.  It is natural.

“But I believe that if we win this election and  the area comes under Barisan Nasional and I  being a civil engineer and with the know-how in engineering, I will be able to  help  the rakyat better and able to contribute  to the entire Adenan leadership and his cabinet. As a civil engineer, I believe that I can do a lot for the people,” Lo added.

Batu Kitang state constituency has  17,000 voters comprising 60 per cent Chinese and 40 per cent Bumiputera.
