‘Support
CM’s team in poll’ call
KUCHING:
Sarawakians are urged to support the Chief Minister’s team during the
forthcoming 11th State Election to ensure continuous development for the state.
According
to Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang, Datuk Patinggi
Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem is a leader who can lead Sarawakians to where they
want to go.
“As
the Chief Minister, Adenan has let us know know about our rights as Sarawakians
under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“Sarawakians
from all walks of life must rally behind our Chief Minister to ensure that our
rights are not further eroded,” said Lo.
He
was speaking to reporters after officiating the RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1 & 2
Community Development Programme held at RPR Batu Kawa Community Hall in Batu
Kawa, yesterday.
Lo
added that now was the time to demand back all these rights, including the right to the state resources and freedom
of language, culture and religious practice.
Lo
also said that he was not sure whether he would be standing in the forthcoming
11th State Election.
“The
nomination day has not come yet.
“I
believe that the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Adenan know best
because at the end of the day, it is to win as many seats as we can,” he said.
Earlier
on, Lo said that the RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1 & 2 Community Development
Programme was a way for the council to get closer to the local community by
understanding their needs and aspirations.
He
also thanked all his Councilors for being with him.
“My
32 Councilors are all with me irrespective of which party they come from and we
work together to organise activities as
one family for the benefit of the public.
“I
also encourage my staff to contribute to the community for the sake of our
children and the generations beyond,” said Lo.
The
activities held during the programme included talks by MPP, the Department of
National Unity and Integration, Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police
(PDRM), and Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA).
There
were also exhibitions by various
government agencies, a colouring contest and “gotong-royong” (mutual assist)
activities among the residents of the area.
