Lo Khere Chiang: SUPP Candidate for Batu Kitang

This is me, Cr Lr Lo Khere Chiang; 56 years old – I am a family man and I have 2 kids.

Equipped with a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Glasgow, I was working for KRDC in 1987 to 1991. In 1991, I started my own Civil Engineering Consultancy.

However, my yearning since my early school days is to serve a much bigger family, to serve my rakyat.

In 2010, I was appointed as the Chairman of Majlis Perbandaran Padawan; this is a job I hold dear to my heart. I have worked hard & tirelessly for the people and I find happiness in seeing people happy.

Now with 2 decades of experience, serving the people of Padawan, I am standing here today to seek your mandate to serve a much bigger family, namely the rakyat of Batu Kitang.

I know that there are a lot of people who still needs assistance from the government –the fishermen & the farmers and so on – and I endeavour to use my position to do a lot more for them.

This Sarawak Election provide a crucial opportunity to elect the right leader & the right people to protect the rights of Sarawak & all Anak Sarawak, for the present & future generations.

As your wakil, I pledge to be your unbiased representative for all respective races in Batu Kitang.

You need a leader with experience & steely resolve, who knows the proper protocol,to seek grants, to implement policies, to carry out the required improvements for the people of Batu Kitang. 

I shall address & strive for the following :

Socio Economic

• The Betterment of the living standard of Batu Kitang is my top priority. 
• Having a better quality of life is crucial for all urban & rural areas. 
• Fundamentally, there must be better infrastructure, electricity & water for all rural areas. 
• I pledge to look into this and formulate an action plan

Flood mitigation

• This recurring problem which is constantly detrimental to business & people must be addressed holistically. 
• As an experienced hands in the field of Civil Engineering, I shall lead a permanent Flood Task Force Team to constantly review & rectify all the problematic areas of flooding.
• We shall start to immediately address the flooding problem by constructing  bigger drains.
• As your Wakil, I shall  seek government grant & the cooperation of all the respective government bodies  to improve the drainage infrastructure and its required long term maintenance. 

Education

• Education is the key to a better life. I shall endeavour to ensure that every child in every family gets educated & I shall seek more government funding for all schools.
• Sarawakians are  unique, all of us co - exist well together; it’s not any different with our children in our existing schools.
• As such, I shall seek more government fundings, equally for national & Chinese schools alike. 
• It is my joy to see, we Anak Sarawak and our children are fluent with each other’s language, without any descrimation.
• This is the pride of us,Sarawakians

Tourism

• Tourism generates a better income for all.
• Batu Kitang is blessed with vast natural greens, mountains, springs & waterfall which can easily to be developed into tourism destinations.
• I shall maximise the tourism potential to create business opportunities for Batu Kitang
• The spin offs are plentiful, such as tour guides, tour transportation, ethnic food & tourism events and the like.
• Tourism is a very good engine to drive socio economic growth, particularly  job creationplus a healthy income for all in the constituency.
• This can help boost Sarawak’s tourism & put our State on the map for its natural beauty.

Security

• I want the people of Batu Kitang to live without fear of crime & I shall ensure that we have CCTV & other crime deterents at all the appropriate places. 
• Neighbourhood watch is an effective means; I shall lead a task force to form such teams.
• General street lighting has to be improved; streets should not be dimly lit
• I shall also address the social ills of the society, to steer youth away from drug related activities & promote sporting healthy activities for the rakyat

Medical

• This is a basic neccessity for all people; I shall endeavour to ensure that we continue to have affordable & good medical services
• This is the time to exercise your power as one voice, one choice, the right choice.
• Let us all share the same heart beat and march in the same direction for a better rakyat.
• With this, I humbly seek your mandate to be your elected representative in our State Assembly which will enable me to champion the rights & benefit for all the people in Batu Kitang.
