Chief Minister Adenan Satem’s pro-rakyat policies are the main reasons why the people in Kuching, especially the Chinese, are beginning to throw their support behind SUPP in this state election.
The recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) from Chinese Independent Schools by the state government and allowing UEC holders to apply for jobs in the state civil service as well as allocating RM5 million for Chinese education could be among the factors that attract the urban Chinese to support SUPP.
The DAP cannot find credible and believable issues with Adenan. They cannot use corruption issue again him because he is seen as clean. Upon his appointment as the chief minister, Adenan took an oath before the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that he would never award government contracts or alienate state land to his family members.
He also directed all his cabinet ministers and assistant ministers to take the same oath.
Adenan explained MACC would be most welcomed to conduct investigation on anyone of them, including himself, if it found evidence of corruption, without notice or warning.
Adenan has kept to his word of a clean government run by a clean ministers.
