KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council’s (MPP) new one-stop customer service counter (CSC) is now operational and is expected to provide customers with better service.
MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said the centre was a positive action taken by the local council.
“This is our one-stop agency where you can get all services. The government is talking about efficiency and getting things done faster. This is a new system,” he said during the soft launch of centre.
“Previously, when someone submits a building plan, they go to the fifth floor. When they pay for hawker licence, they go next door.
Meanwhile, problems with evaluation are done at the second floor.
“Now, you just take a number and it will be directed to the relevant counter. All your queries and problems can be solved in this comfortable centre as all service counters are in one area,” he told reporters.

Other than convenience, the objective of the new CSC is to reduce the amount of complaints regarding MPP services.
The centre offers a whole range of services including payments, assessment and taxation, public health, enforcement, engineering and helpdesks.
All payments can be made at the payment counters while the assessment and taxation counters are in charge of printing tax receipt and property ownership change. The public health counter deals with renewal of licence and application of dog licensing, reflexology centres, karaoke centres, coffee shops and food outlets.
The enforcement counters will be in charge of advertisement licence, parking lot application, trading and commercial areas while the Engineering counters deal with submission of civil engineering plans.
The helpdesk will process applications related to building plan, housing permit, approved building plans, temporary constructions and other related matters.
The CSC is open from 8am to 5pm every weekday at the ground floor of MPP. The payment counter closes at 3pm.
