PADAWAN: A total of 64 organisations from
Batu Kitang Constituency received minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling
RM300,000 yesterday.
The cheque presentation ceremony was graced
by Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang at the Padawan Municipal
Council (MPP).
“This is the first round of the grants for
Batu Kitang Constituency,” Lo later told a press conference.
He encouraged the community leaders,
associations leaders and the organisations to carry out more meaningful
activities for the society.
“These MRP funds will support their
activities.
“However, they cannot rely 100 per cent on
the MRP funds to carry out their activities.
“They need to look for other sources of
funds,“ he said.
Meanwhile, speaking on the stateless
children issues recently, Lo thanked the National Registration Department (NRD)
for its proactive and effective response on the matters.
“I will still follow up on the cases and
have already brought them up to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) at
Putrajaya,
“I hope one day NRD and MoHA will able to
deal with this administratively.
“These children are entitled to their
citizenship because they were born and raised here. Just because of their
parents’ marriage documents were not in order doesn’t mean they are illegally
staying here,” he said.
