In disclosing this, its assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said among them is the RM400,000 project to build a drainage system along a two kilometre stretch of Jalan Puncak Borneo at Kampung Landeh junction which will start next year.
“Once completed, it will solve the flooding upstream in that area where around 100 over houses were affected,” he told reporters before inspecting the site of the proposed drains near the new St Ann’s Catholic Church at Kota Padawan near here yesterday.
“The engineer said it would be best to build the project at the vicinity of the new church and next year I will add RM100,000 to ensure that the drain is done properly,” he added.
Lo thanked the state government and the Chief Minister for enabling the project to be carried out.
“It is my wish to have that kind of money or else I would not be able to help the people in this area,” he said.
Of the RM2.5-million allocation, he said some were spent on roads, street lighting, drains and building repairs while the RTP fund next year would be used for sports and recreational centres and community halls and other amenities.
Lo also brought reporters to Lorong Ching Lee 3 which will be widened and have a proper drainage system.
“We need to widen the road as it is frequently used by road users to come to 10th Mile Bazaar (Kota Padawan) from Kampung Landeh through the lorong,” he said.
He disclosed that the widening of the road and the drainage system stretching 600 to 700 metres which will start next year will cost RM300,000 and will be funded under the RTP.
Apart from the RTP fund, he said a sum of RM500,000 had been allocated by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for street lighting from the junction of Kampung Landeh to Kampung Betong, stretching five kilometres.
“Without his assistance it will take some time for the street to have light and this project is my priority for this year,” he said.
