KUCHING: The 11th annual Padawan Raft Safari on Aug 14 will have RM24,500 worth of prizes up for grabs.
Organising
chairman Andrew Joris Noyen said the Padawan Municipal Council (PMC)
event promises local and international participants an exciting time
along the Sungai Sarawak Kiri.
The six categories are expert
(40km), kayaking (40km), men’s open (26km), and women’s, government
agencies, as well as hotel and tour agencies categories, which would be
around 22km.
“As of now, we have 24 teams which have registered
for the event, and we are expecting more and hope to see again another
great turnout this year as last year’s event, as the closing date
approaches,” Andrew told a press conference yesterday.
He added
there will be many side activities such as cultural dances, songs and
local traditional cuisine. As with previous years, the starting points
for the event are at Kampung Annah Rais for the kayak and expert
categories, Kampung Temurang for the men’s open, and Kampung Danu for
the other categories.
Assistant Minister for Public Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has been invited to officially close the event at Kampung Git.
The closing date for registration is Aug 12.
