Don’t forget traditions, Dayaks told
KUCHING :
State Assemblyman for Batu Kitang, Lo Khere Chiang has advised Dayaks
not to forget their traditions and culture.
Speaking at the post Gawai celebration on
Sunday night at Kampung Bumbok, Lo said
each Gawai celebration has its own attractions and urged organising chairman,
Johnny Biduh to promote them next year.
Without
history, a country was meaningless, he said, adding that everyone could
learn from history.
Lo was thankful to the kampung in Batu
Kitang and Batu Kawa for electing him
and Local Government Minister, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian during the recent
State Election.
He said now that he had been elected, he
would be able to assist the organisations with at least RM3,000 each to help
them set up funds for their activities.
“The money must be put to good use for the
villagers,” he advised.
At the moment, he said most of the villagers complained of poor road
conditions in their kampung.
He
urged them to be patient as the Public
Works Department and other relevant agencies were looking into the complaints.
Over 800 villagers turned up for the
celebration.
