Each Dayak should not forget their tradition and culture as it is a reminder of where we are from as well as to identify ourselves,” said State Assemblyman for Batu Kitang, Lo Khere Chiang.
Speaking at the post Gawai celebration on Sunday night at Kampung Bumbok, Lo said each Gawai celebration has their own beauty and urged the organizing chairman, Johnny Biduh to market it next year. He added that without a history, the country is meaningless. And through history, everyone can learn lessons from them, he said.
Lo was thankful for kampongs in Batu Kitang and Batu Kawa for giving the mandate to him and Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
He said now that he has been given the mandate, he would be able to assist the organisations with at least RM3,000 to help them set up a fund for activities. “The money must be put to good use for the villagers,” he added.
At the moment, he said most of the residents complained of road conditions in their kampong. He urged them to be patients as the JKR and other relevant agencies are looking into it.
Over 800 residents turned up at the celebration.
