Good evening everyone, after an intense but good final game, it shows that we have true sportsmanship here in Sarawak.
I wish to thank One Two One Two Sports Management Company for hosting this event, and the many sponsors and supporters who have made this remarkable tournament possible.
And I have to applaud the organiser for donating the proceeds and collection from the tournament to charitable bodies to help underprivileged children, particularly those in need of education and medical aid. We Thank You sincerely on this noble cause.
Adenan Satem Cup was open to all basketball enthusiasts, including basketball associations. This tournament has definitely been able to further enhance ties between basketball enthusiasts and competing teams from the multi-ethnic community in Sarawak in the spirit of 1Malaysia, as mentioned by Liew.
This tournament symbolizes so many great qualities. It brings us all together, regardless of race, culture or religion. For this I'm sure our late Tok Nan would love, as it's always been his direction in leading us.
Togetherness and unity in any ways, whether it's in work, in sports or in communities. Throughout this tournament we’ve crossed all borders and boundaries to join together in friendship within the simple lines of a basketball court. And this is the true Sarawakian spirit.
We are united by our pride in our Sarawakian heritage. United by our dedication to sport, sportsmanship and team spirit. United by our love of diversity and humanity. United by our faith that we will be a much better place when we come together, share and get to know one another. This tournament is more than just merely competition, it's filled with passion, true friendship and unity forged through a game of basketball.
Tonight, I salute and thank everyone of you. You are terrific sportspeople. You are believers in building a better environment and friendship.
Once again I would like to Thank Puan Sri YB Jamilah Anu for giving her upmost support for this Adenan Satem Cup 2017. We would like to take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for our late chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem for his contribution to the state and the people of Sarawak.
