250 villagers flock to mini carnival

KUCHING: 250 villagers of Kampung Haji Baki flocked to SK Jalan Haji Baki last Saturday for the Kampung Haji Baki Mini Carnival.

The event was the first to be held in the village after 40 years.

Gracing the closing ceremony of the carnival was Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Cr. Lo Khere Chiang who announced that a total of RM5,000 would be given to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the village.

“As a token of my appreciation for organising this, I would like to channel RM3,000 to the Welfare and Cultural Association of Kampung Haji Baki for its future activities.

“Another RM2,000 will be given to the Kampung Haji Baki Women’s Wing of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) for the Badminton competition,” said Lo in his speech.

The event was also co-organised by SK Jalan Haji Baki Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Kampung Haji Baki Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and Masjid Darul Ehsan Kampung Haji Baki.

The mini carnival included a lot of activities such as Silat Competition, Zumba Competition, Solo and Karaoke Competition and also a variety of booths.

Also in attendance was the organizing chairman, Haji Sulaiman Haji Mat.
