Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, who is also MPP chairman, said the culvert would serve to convey water, particularly the huge volume that would come through during the monsoon season and torrential rains during the yearend.
“It is a big relief that works on the culvert are finally completed. We now have a strong and sturdy structure, with concrete-piled foundations that will last for at least the next 100 years or more,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Lo also expressed his apology for any inconvenience caused during the repair works.
He also thanked MPP councillors and staff involved in the speedy reconstruction of the collapsed culvert, which cost RM246,596.80.
Recently, MPP deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim together with other council officials and staff went to the site to inspect the culvert.
