Haji Baki community residents lined the route to organise and participate in the celebrations and soak up the mini carnival atmosphere and followed the party down to the programs and sports activities. Special thanks goes to all our wonderful carnival participants and creative community team including Haji Baki's PIBG, JKKK, KRT, K1M and members of the Masjid.
A packed programme of sessions, sports activities with attractive prizes saw a great amount of community residents attending this Mini Carnival.
The community learn how to do so at this carnival that aims to highlight how every small action and activity brings the community closer and that we make it a point to join the carnival as it is a reminder of the importance of keeping our community close knitted and to never take it for granted. Community unity is the key success to building a better Batu Kitang.
We wanted a chance to bring our communities together to celebrate what unites us. There’s nothing better than a good get-together with community, family and amazing home cooked food. It takes our community to a whole new level, food connects us to the best things in life - it breaks down barriers, and gets people talking and sharing happy times like nothing else.
Mini Carnivals like such are always a good way to maintain community relationships. This is an awesome initiative, and I’m really proud to add my support. We believe in togetherness and achieving a sense of community, collaboration and fun. We want to share that idea with everyone and encourage members of the public to come together in community events like this carnival.
What marks it all is what we do here in Haji Baki best is pour out cups of tea and Kopi, but what we’re not really good at is having constructive conversation with neighbours and bridging those divides within a community. That’s what this carnival really is, a good reason to bring communities together up and down the constituency and celebrate what we have in common.
If you think about things that hold us together, those really Sarawakian values, whether it’s values of equality or the way we all believe the fact that the weather is hot and we all like Kopi, these are more important than biased politics and things that divide us.
I believe there are an escalation of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us. Community wellbeing is the combination of social, economic, environmental, cultural, and political conditions identified by individuals and their communities as essential for them to flourish and fulfill their potential. We shall explore each of these attributes for factors that contribute to community wellbeing.
Together We Will Build A Better Batu Kitang.
