KUCHING: The Batu Kawah constituency has been awarded more than RM6 million worth of development projects this year.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is Batu Kawah assemblyman, said 31 were Rural Transformation Projects (RTP).
The projects include construction and upgrading of community halls and futsal courts; upgrading of drainage and culverts; upgrading of roads, surau, riverbank and bridges; and installation of street lighting.
“These RTPs to be implemented in Batu Kawa do not include projects that were implemented by other government agencies and departments such as the Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and others,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He also noted that JKR had allocated RM800,000 for the installation of street lighting, while DID will be implementing projects worth over RM7 million in the constituency.
“Some of the RTPs have already been completed while others have just completed the public tender process,” he said, adding that more development and upgrading projects will be implemented in the constituency in the years to come.
