State BN kingmaker if it wins all 31 seats, says Dr Sim
KUCHING: The state Barisan Nasional (BN) will definitely become the ‘kingmaker’ if it is successful in securing all 31 seats in this election.
SUPP president, who is also the BN candidate for Stampin, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian even said the state BN is guaranteed to capture a minimum of 25 seats this election.
“It means without BN Sarawak, no party can form the new central government but a lot of people fail to realise that this election is for Sarawak,” he told a press conference at SUPP Batu Kawah service centre yesterday.
He reminded the voters that every seat lost is one voice less for Sarawak to be the kingmaker.
“Can you imagine if we are the kingmaker? If you are a kingmaker, whatever interests that are not to the benefit of Sarawakians, we will say ‘no’, even to Umno.”
He said now is the opportune time for Sarawak to regain its power and even demand for more as Peninsular Malaysia is divided.
Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing, meanwhile expressed disappointment with state DAP for not agreeing to Sarawak and Sabah making one-third of parliament.
“I have said over and over again that this is the time, after 55 years (of independence), for
Sarawak to seize the opportunity.
Sarawak to seize the opportunity.
“When this chance slips away, the number of MPs from Sarawak and Sabah will be reduced to one-fifth, giving the Peninsula more power and the ability to change the constitution any time because they have more than two-thirds majority.
“MPs are based on population, so this is our only chance,” he added.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, Temenggong Tan Joo Phooi, and SUPP Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap were among those present.
