KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) says the state Barisan Nasional (BN) is not similar to its counterparts in Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
This is due to the fact that the state BN had never and would not let any other BN component parties from outside Sarawak to come into the state.
According to Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, when speaking at a political talk at a venue near Emart Batu Kawa Saturday night, only Sarawakian parties could fight for the rights and interests of Sarawakians, and SUPP is one of them.
“We (SUPP) are a member of the big BN family, and we are interested in protecting the rights of Sarawakians. We assure Sarawakians that we are ourselves and we won’t let other BN parties based outside Sarawak take over this state as long as we are around,” Lo said.
The talk, which drew hundreds of people, also saw the presence of BN candidate for Stampin Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian who is also SUPP president, who gave a talk on the importance of voting BN.
He said if the people did not support the state BN, the people themselves would lose the power to fight for their rights as contained in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He also reminded the audience to know that the state BN had done a lot of development for Sarawak and its people while the opposition only know how to talk.
“The opposition only know how to look (tengok sahaja), and do nothing. How can they serve the people if they are all talk but no action?”
SUPP Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap, Youth Central chairman Michael Tiang and others were also present at the event.
