5,000 affordable homes if Dr Sim triumphs in Stampin

5,000 affordable homes if Dr Sim triumphs in Stampin

KUCHING: BN-SUPP candidate for Stampin Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has promised the construction of 5,000 affordable houses over the next five years if he wins in this election.
The houses, he said, are for the Batu Kawah, Batu Kitang and Kota Sentosa state constituencies, with 1,000 such homes to be built each year.
“Among the main key of development in Stampin is affordable housing as the area is constantly developing. In Batu Kawah, there are many housing (projects) like condominiums but the prices are very high.
“Thus it is important to have affordable housing for the people,” he told a press conference when launching his manifesto at his operations centre here yesterday.
Dr Sim added that even though the demand for affordable housing is much higher than the 5,000-figure, he wants to ensure that he fulfills his promises to the people first.
His manifesto focuses on affordable housing and education, boosting economic activities, flood mitigation and drainage, community and traffic, and roads.
“Aside from housing, I will also focus on building more secondary schools, aside from projects to reduce traffic woes in Stampin.
“A new district administration complex is also in the plan so that Stampin folks don’t need to go outside the area for work and, at the same time, prevent them from passing through high traffic areas to get to work,” he added.
On traffic and roads, Dr Sim said he has applied to the chief minister to
include a Light Rail Transit (LRT) station in Stampin, including Mile 10, and to extend the line from Batu Kawah all the way to Bau.
