They are like naughty children, Dr Sim says of opposition bench
THE current sitting of the first session of the 18th Sarawak State legislative sitting is a baptism of fire for first timers like Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Dr Sim is the president of the Sarawak United People’s Party and is also the Minister of Local Government.
He won the Batu Kawah seat in the May 7 state election against two other candidates with a majority of 2,085 votes.
Telling reporters of his experience after attending four days of the session in Kuching yesterday, he said he was flabbergasted by the attitude of certain assemblymen from the opposition bench.
“They are like naughty children… always trying to attract attention.
“Sometimes the words they used are interesting…. purposely to provoke arguments,” he said.
He said their supporters should see for themselves how these politicans conducted themselves in the august house.
Dr Sim, a heart specialist turned politician, is also a member of the Senate.
“I have been in the Senate for two years. There, the situation is different.
“People are more honourable… conducting the sitting decorously. It could be because the opposition are a minority there,” he said. — Bernama
