A Bus Rail Transit system to ease traffic congestion: Lo

A Bus Rail Transit from Padang Merdeka to Kuching Central, said Padawan Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang who said he is all for the proposal to do so.

Lo who is also the State Assemblyman for Batu Kitang in a press conference yesterday after the monthly municipal meeting said the proposal will help a densely populated area and ease traffic congestion.

He said the RM250 million project is still in initial planning stage and the consultant has asked the Padawan council’s opinion on the matter as it affected the road, Datuk Tawi in Padawan area.
Lo said he support the project as the leaders in Sarawak has the far sight to plan ahead.

The council meeting was also the last for the councillors whose term ends today (June 30). Thanking them for their time and sacrifices, Lo said some has been Cr for 12 years and had contributed a lot.

On the issue of drains and erosion, Lo said he has sat down with the JKR and CMS who had assured that they are looking into the problem. He called to the people to be patient as they will be doing the repairs by stages.

“Flooding is an issue that has been undertaken by me and Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian. We are also working on the immediate issue of dealing with floods that is widening the drains. It will take millions. We do what we can at the moment to contain the problem with the funds we have,” he said.

The  first two hard hit flood areas to be look into are Desa Wira and Arang Road.

On the council projects, Lo said from the feedback given during the council meeting, all projects are running on time and in progress.
