Sarawak BN MPs united against Private Member’s Bill: Masing

KUCHING: All 25 Sarawakian BN MPs will not support PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s Private Member’s Bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing who confirmed this, said all the state BN component parties were united in this matter.
“We are following what the Chief Minister had said. Certainly, BN will be together in not supporting the Bill,” Masing, who is PRS president, said when met after the opening of the first meeting of the first term of the 18th State Legislative Assembly today.
On Sunday (June 5), Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who is also PBB president, said the party would not support the bill because Sarawak was a multi-racial state, with Muslims only constituting about 25 per cent of the population.
