KUCHING: The problem of stagnant water after a downpour and lack of street lights in front of Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersepadu (KSKB) at Mile 13th Jalan Puncak Borneo has the attention of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

The problem endangers college students and staff walking in darkness along that stretch of road to buy food from a canteen nearby.

The danger was greater at night after the rain when the edge of the road gets flooded and they have to walk almost in the middle of the road. It is also dangerous for motorists using the road.

Yesterday, Lo was informed of the problem and visited the site with a concerned citizen.

“The council will look into the problem and as the road and installation of street lighting is under the purview of Public Works Department (JKR), I will write to JKR about the problem,” Lo said yesterday.

He hoped the problem could be rectified by JKR after it had been notified.

Lo promised that the council would build a drain to channel the stagnant water into the main drain.
