Seven projects worth RM775,330 approved for villages in Stampin
KUCHING: The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development on Thursday announced the approval of seven projects worth RM775,330 for several villages within the Stampin parliamentary constituency.
The announcement was made by its deputy minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi during a walkabout at Kampung Bukit Pancor, Kuching-Bau road.
Of the seven projects, three were approved yesterday, that is the tar-sealing of Jalan Kampung Bukit Panchor (RM100,000), installation of 10 street lighting poles at Kampung Bukit Panchor (RM7,300) and the construction of a jetty at Kampung Batu Kitang Lama (RM100,000).
Other projects which were approved earlier are the construction of Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (housing) for 15 families within Batu Kitang state constituency (RM240,000), upgrading of roads at Kampung Bumbok (RM200,000), upgrading of drainage system at Kampung Bumbok (RM120,000) and installation of street lighting at Kampung Sandong, Kitang (RM8,030)
“These are some of the projects that we have approved for now within the Batu Kitang state seat.
“This is not all we are going to give. We will continue to receive applications from your elected representatives.
“It depends on the initiatives of your elected representatives. If the elected representatives are in the same direction with us, there is a high chance you will get them (projects),” said Nanta.
Nanta thus called on voters in Stampin to vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate so that together they could deliver for the people in the area.
The Stampin incumbent is Julian Tan from the Democratic Action Party (DAP).
“Those of you who voted for BN in the last state election, continue to do so in the coming election.
“You may also help to persuade others who voted for DAP before, to return and vote for the BN candidate,” he said.
Stampin is one of the seats that BN has allocated to Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP).
SUPP president and Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) chairman and Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and his deputy Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim were also present.
