Goodbye to C-grade eateries

Goodbye to C-grade eateries

KUCHING: Eating places with grade C are on their way out at Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), with only six left as of now.
MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that the Health Department aims to only have food establishments with grades A or B in operation.
“Those graded C will be given a warning and one month to improve conditions,” Lo told reporters during a coffee shop inspection walkabout around Kota Sentosa this morning.
It was the first major inspection of the year for MPP’s Health Division, held jointly with the State Health Department.
Lo emphasised that inspection by the council is carried out on a daily basis by their enforcement division.
“We do a joint inspection three to four times a year, but our own runs on a daily basis.”
MPP’s number one objective is to ensure food premises here will always be clean, without rats or cockroaches.
There are 550 eating outlets under MPP. Out of that number, 170 of them are graded A while 374 are graded B.
