Remain united for a stronger Sarawak – Dr Sim

KUCHING: Sarawakians, especially the Chinese, are urged to ‘wake up from their sleep’ and remain united in making a stronger Sarawak with Barisan Nasional (BN) to get back what rightfully belong to the people and the state.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said the 14th general election (GE14) is so important for Sarawak because the current political scenario in Peninsular Malaysia is not going to be the same forever.
He believed that GE14 is not just an ordinary election because of too much politicking and therefore, the people of Sarawak must take the opportunity to strengthen themselves under one roof.
“This is the only chance after 55 years, but we must be strong and united under BN so that in parliament we not only debate, we not only defend Sarawak, but we want to take back Sarawak’s rights.
“If not, another 55 years Sarawak will be worse than ever because Sarawak’s population would never match the population of (Peninsular) Malaysia,” he said at the launch of SUPP Youth logo at the party headquarters here today.
Dr Sim anticipated that in another 55 years, Peninsular Malaysia’s population would be even bigger, which means they will need more schools, more hospitals and more roads than Sarawak.
Because of such attitude towards Sarawak, the state will be forever poor as they will only take the good things from Sarawak while the bad things they said “we share”, he opined.
“That is why I keep calling all Sarawakians, ‘wake up’. Forget about them. Let us protect our own interests, let us look after ourselves.
“If we remain united (and) become a stronger Sarawak, with Sarawak 31, we don’t even have to go to KL to negotiate; let KL come to Sarawak to negotiate.
“That is what we need to do. So with a stronger Sarawak and Sarawak 31 (BN wins all the 31 parliamentary seats), we can do it,” he said, stressing all must unite under BN in the upcoming GE14 in order to get back Sarawak’s rights and to make sure that Sarawak’s right will not be eroded away by the Parliament.
