KUCHING: Sarawakians have been called on to remain united for a stronger state Barisan Nasional (BN) to be able to get back what rightly belongs to the state and people.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said the upcoming parliamentary election is vital for Sarawak.
“This is the only chance after 55 years, but we must be strong and united under BN so that in Parliament we not only debate, we not only defend Sarawak, but we want to take back Sarawak’s rights.
“If not, another 55 years Sarawak will be worse than ever because Sarawak’s population would never match the population of West Malaysia,” he said when launching the SUPP Youth logo yesterday.
According to Dr Sim, a current opposition leader used to say that Peninsular Malaysia needed to be allocated more funds because of its bigger population.
He said as such Sarawakians need to “wake up”.
“We just have to know what Sarawakians should do.
If we remain united, be strong, become a stronger Sarawak, with Sarawak 31 (parliamentary seats for BN), we don’t even have to go to KL to negotiate; let KL come to Sarawak to negotiate.
“That is what we need to do. So with a stronger Sarawak and Sarawak 31, we can do it,” he said.
