KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang officially opened its branch office on the second floor of a building opposite Kuching Sentral here.
SUPP President Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also Minister of Housing and Local Government, said the branch office is a new home for SUPP Batu Kitang.
“We can’t keep wandering around otherwise people do not know where to find us. This new home is not only for services but a nerve centre for all activities, gatherings and strategic meetings of SUPP Batu Kitang,” he stressed.
For the coming general election, Sim said the fight to win Stampin would not only be SUPP’s but that of the people of Sarawak.
“If we don’t love Sarawak, who will love Sarawak,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said the establishment of the service centre is not just for SUPP.
“We have Saberkas and PBB branches coming for meetings, NGOs holding programmes and we are going to organise many events in the future.
“Hence, I like to see this establishment as a good community centre,” he said.
Lo said regardless of when GE14 will be held, SUPP members must serve the people with sincerity and empathy whenever and wherever possible.

“I hope SUPP members do not forget that the pain of losing Stampin five years is still fresh in our
minds.
“Five years on, we have become stronger. And we have the confidence to take back Stampin.
“After the redelineation exercise in 2015, Stampin now comprises the state seats of Batu Kitang, Kota Sentosa and Batu Kawah.
“Hence, the parliamentary seat of Stampin is quite favorable to SUPP.
“I hope that party members will do their utmost to regain the parliamentary seat of Stampin and to move forward positively.
“I also hope the party’s central committee will soon decide the best candidate for Stampin so that he could start doing the ground preparations,” said Lo.
