As we are moving towards modernisation, we must ensure that our people have a better quality of life with shorter travel time from their homes to their respective work places; as quoted by our CM, Abang Jo.
The proposed LRT project are filled with really comprehensive plannings and it’s a huge development leap for Sarawak. The probable first phrase route of Kuching-Serian-Samarahan will allow the people of Sarawak to have a better quality of life with shorter travelling time from their homes to their respective work places and schools, colleges or universities.
The LRT will also increase the number of tourist and inbound travellers by providing a better travel experience and design different marketing strategies to increase use of better transport to tourism attractions along the proposed routes. The previous mentioned study purposes was to investigate inbound tourists' considerations for choosing public means of transportation during their travel in Sarawak and conduct the tourism attraction analysis of LRT system from the perspectives of inbound tourists, and identify how inbound tourists' traveling behavior influence their perceptions of Sarawak tourism attractions.
LRT plans will target the development of main and secondary visitor source markets, and make optimum use of the promotional capabilities of government offices overseas to vigorously enhance Sarawak’s new tourism image and effectively attract international visitors to our diversified land of Hornbills.
With the upcoming LRT plans, some private developments are expected to see a price appreciation amid a weaker market. However, the impact may vary depending on the connectivity of the area, existing price levels of other developments within the vicinity and the type of properties in the areas. A comprehensive transport network is the lifeblood of any main city in the world. Our farsighted CM Abang Jo believe that transport in Sarawak is about more than travelling from one point to another. LRT connects people in the most accessible, comfortable way possible, our dreams and our aspirations and a huge leap towards modernisation. LRT service will improve reliability, comfort and convenience for our people for whatever way we travel.
Along with CM Abang Jo’s Vision, I believe that our LRT transport system should contribute towards liveable communities and run for the well-being of our entire Sarawak communities in all its diversity. We will meet the needs of not just the young and mobile, but the elderly and those with disabilities who can safely rely on our future LRT public transport.
I want to sincerely thank our CM and his board members, management team and staffs for their ongoing commitment and enthusiasm to bring about a modernised people-centred land transport system for all of us in Sarawak. Our prescient captain CM Abang Jo, certainly will positively steer Sarawak towards the next millennium.
