Kui Hian presenting a recipient with her BR1M together with Kapitan Bong Kim
Chiew, Kuching District Resident Tuan Haji Shukarmin Haji Chasemon, and fellow
party members.
KUCHING: Over the course of two days (15
and 16 March), more than 2,000 recipients will receive their 1Malaysia People’s
Aid (BR1M).
Recipients from within the Kuching area who
have been approved to receive the financial assistance can collect it from
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Headquarters here.
According to SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim
Kui Hian, this is for the recipients who don’t have a bank account.
“We strongly encourage them to have a bank
account so that they don’t have to go through the hassle of lining up; the
money can go straight to their account,” he said.
Sim, who is also the Minister of Local
Government and state assemblyman for Batu Kawah, hopes that the recipients will
make full use of the money they have received.
Meanwhile, regarding the General Elections
and whether or not SUPP has selected any candidates, Sim said that the
candidate has to be someone from the ground.“They have to be there
consistently; not just be there for functions and then disappear.
“Don’t forget that we choose our candidates
based from the ground and we always choose the best.
“We hope that the people will give us a
chance,” said Sim.
Sim said this to reporters while attending
the distribution of BR1M which was held at SUPP Headquarters here yesterday.
Also present during the event were Kapitan
Bong Kim Chiew and Kuching District Resident Tuan Haji Shukarmin Haji Chasemon.
