罗克强：准备好应对水患问题

砂人联党巴都吉当区州议员罗克强表示，其选区已经做好准备应对随时可能发生的水患。

无论如何，他表示农历新年至今并没有连绵豪雨，因此发生水患的机率不高，而一些地区的水患是属于闪电水灾和积水问题。

也是巴达旺市议会主席的罗克强说，该市议会也是在做好应对水患的准备。

他说，据他所知，地方政府部门将设有特别拨款，作为水利灌溉局解决闪电水灾问题的经费。

对于巴都吉当的发展计划方面，他指出，该选区获得500万令吉的乡区转型计划拨款，和200万令吉的小型计划拨款。

罗克强是于住家新春开放门户上受访时，这么表示。

来自各族的民众于大年初二踊跃出席罗克强的开放门户，向他贺年。

（本报古晋24日讯）“垃圾虫”不负责任行为，令人感到遗憾！巴达旺市议会主席罗克强建议民众，透过手机拍照上传社交媒体方式，向“垃圾虫”小惩大诫！
同时是峇都吉当区州议员的罗克强表示，巴达旺市议会在去年完成了185项工程，但谈到辖区内的乱丢垃圾问题时，原来的欣慰顿时就会变成遗憾。他称，一些民众在处理垃圾时非常不负责任，有些随意丢在路边，有些则丢在水沟、河流。

年花10万处理垃圾
他表示，巴达旺市议会每年需要多花大约10万令吉，来处理非法乱丢垃圾问题。他认为，除了巴达旺市议会，相信大多数民众，都同样对这种乱丢垃圾的行为感到厌烦。
有鉴于此，他建议民众，在看见有人乱丢垃圾时，可以把他们的相片拍下上传社交媒体面子书，作为小惩大诫。他认为，每个人都有羞耻心，此举可以让民众引以为戒，不敢再胡乱丢垃圾。

MPP expected to complete RM40 mln in projects this year

KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has been tasked with completing projects worth RM40 million this year.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said from the total allocation, RM25 million would be used for the tar-sealing and maintenance of roads.

He said the funds for the tar-sealing and maintenance of roads came from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Maris), which was channelled through the state government, while the other funding came from rural transformation projects (RTP), minor rural projects (MRP), and National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) projects.

“We are grateful to the state government for their confidence in us to implement RM40 million worth of projects this year.

“It is a big jump compared to last year. Last year, we were tasked to implement RM25 million worth of projects, of which all have been completed,” Lo told a press conference after the MPP full council meeting yesterday.

The Batu Kitang assemblyman said MPP would implement the projects resourcefully and diligently.
“I know the aspirations of the people on the council are very high, and we will try our very best not to disappoint by delivering every project within schedule.

“But I’m confident that we can deliver as we have a very good team in PMC (MPP), which can make it happen,” he said.

Among those at the press conference were MPP deputy chairman Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim, MPP secretary Andrew Joris Noyen, MPP deputy secretary Elizabeth Loh and MPP executive engineer Mohd Hazwan Othman.

罗克强建议菩提幼儿园设立分校惠及各地幼儿

（本报古晋22日讯）随着人口的增加，菩提幼儿园已无法容纳更多学生，巴都吉当区州议员兼巴达旺市议会主席罗克强建议古晋佛教居士林考虑在其他人口稠密的地区，创办菩提幼儿园分校，让各地的幼儿都能够入读菩提幼儿园。

他表示，菩提幼儿园拥有今天的成就，应归功于古晋佛教居士林林长蔡明田，高瞻远瞩，在35面前毅然创办菩提幼儿园。

此外，历任菩提幼儿园董事、园长、老师及职员的默默耕耘，将菩提幼儿园建设发展成为本州数一数二的优质幼儿园，更是功不可没。罗克强是昨晚出席菩提幼儿园35周年庆萤火游行联欢会开幕仪式上致词时，如是表示。

他称，菩提幼儿园创办之后，家长纷纷将子女送入菩提幼儿园接受学前教育，本地的学前教育从此开始普及。他表示，35年来，菩提幼儿园已经栽培数以万计的优秀学生，成为各行各业的优秀人才。

当年5、6岁的小孩子，如今已是30、40岁的青年，不少菩提幼儿园毕业生已经成家立业，孩子如今也就读菩提幼儿园。因此，他希望菩提幼儿园毕业生能够成立菩提幼儿园校友会，回馈菩提幼儿园，协助幼儿园发展。

罗克强也在活动上移交5000令吉拨款给该幼儿园，作为购置微型电脑用途。

蔡蕙朱：幼儿来源国际化

较早前，菩提幼儿园园长蔡蕙朱表示，该园成立于1983年，当年仅佛堂底层简单的间隔四间课室，在1994年，该园新校舍落成，并拥有12间新课室及大型游乐场。

她指出，於2006年，该园推行〈蒙特梭利主题统整教学〉，并开始实行小班制度。2011年，该园在董事及社会人士的热心支持下成功扩建校舍，增加多4间课室及行政办公室。

2012年，该园全面进行冷气化设备，并于2016年将剑桥少儿英语课程纳入正课，以便有效的激励幼儿学习英语，促进幼儿们全脑发展，培养高绩效的英语学习能力。她强调，如今菩提幼儿园已发展成为一所极具有规模，且重视幼儿全面发展的园所，同时，幼儿来源更趋向国际化。

Lo praises Indian community for preserving culture

KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang yesterday commended the Indian community here for constantly organising meaningful cultural events.

Although a minority community they never failed to protect their community, preserving their culture, nurturing and educating their youths on their heritage, said Lo when officiating at the Kuching Hindu Youth Organisation (KHYO)-organised Pongal Kondattam 2017 celebration at MBKS open theatre at Jalan Padungan here.

“I would like to remind all of us not to forget these progressive Indian communities as they too are part of our society. We are Sarawakians and in Sarawak we unite regardless of race and religion. Congratulations once again on the success of holding this Pongal celebration,” said Lo.

Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu, a southern state of India, and is one of the most important popular Hindu festivals of the year. It examines the strong sociolinguistics of the Indian community, particularly in Sarawak.

“The Indian diaspora in Sarawak is of interest because the community differs from others in many respects. Although a minority, Indians too enjoy constitutional recognition. Furthermore they are a firmly established ethnic group within the country, both socially and economically having been instrumental in early colonial times and during the foundation phase of present-day Sarawak,” Lo stressed. Lo presented a grant of RM5,000 to KHYO to support their activities.

KUCHING: Kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Batu Kitang bakal dibangunkan dengan projek yang akan memanfaatkan rakyat setempat dalam tempoh lima tahun ini. 

Demikian janji Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Batu Kitang Lo Khere Chiang yang berkeyakinan penuh bahawa rakyat di kawasan Batu Kitang akan menikmati perubahan positif kelak. 

“Selepas bertugas sebagai seorang ADUN selama tujuh bulan terdapat banyak perkara yang telah kita rancangkan untuk semua kampung dalam kawasan Batu Kitang. 

“Dalam tempoh lima tahun ini, saya akan bekerjasama dengan semua ketua masyarakat setempat untuk membawa lebih banyak rancangan dan projek untuk dimanfaatkan penduduk di kawasan ini. 

“Saya minta agar penduduk jangan risau dan bekerjasamalah dengan ketua kaum masing-masing. 

“Tetapi perlulah anda bersabar kerana tidak semua projek seperti longkang, parit, jalan raya dan sebagainya akan siap dalam satu hari,” ujarnya ketika berucap pada Majlis Pelancaran Projek Pendidikan Kesihatan di Kampung Betung di sini, semalam. 

Sebelum ini, JKKK Kampung Betung telah menerima sejumlah cek bernilai RM200,000 daripada Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) dan tambahan RM300,000 sumbangan daripada Ketua Menteri Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg untuk pembinaan balai raya kampung tersebut pada PRN lepas. 

Penambahbaikan gereja dan penyambungan tenaga elektrik dari simpang Batu 10 ke kampung tersebut juga telah dilaksanakan walaupun masih terdapat satu atau dua rumah yang belum menikmati kemudahan itu. 

Lo yang juga merupakan Pengerusi MPP berkata, beliau gembira melihat penduduk di kawasan tersebut menjaga kebersihan alam sekitar dan kesihatan badan. 

“Ini kerana kanak-kanak yang membesar hari ini memerlukan persekitaran yang bersih agar perkembangan tumbesaran dan kesihatan terjamin. 

“Ilmu kesihatan sangat penting kepada penduduk kampung agar mereka menyedari betapa pentingnya aspek kesihatan. 

“Melaluinya, ia berupaya untuk menjadikan kanak-kanak seorang pemimpin yang baik dan sihat suatu hari nanti,” katanya.

Majlis tersebut dimulakan dengan senamrobik, ceramah kesihatan, lawatan tapak pameran, saringan kesihatan pap smear, penyampaian hadiah pertandingan mewarna kanak-kanak dan cabutan bertuah.  Ia dianjurkan oleh Pelatih Jururawat Kesihatan Awam bersama KKIA Kota Padawan, Kampung Betung, Padawan.  Turut hadir Pegawai Perubatan Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak Kota Padawan Dr Zarina Sulaiman, Ketua Kaum Kampung Betung Jong Likang Semboi, Ketua Jururawat Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak Kota Padawan Juliana John.  Hadir sama Panel Kesihatan Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak Kota Padawan Penghulu Lim Eng Hwa dan Ketua Kampung Landeh P. Johari.

（古晋20日讯）巴达旺市议会主席罗克强今早巡视石角区灾民，并及送上慰问及必须品，让他们可以安心撑过这个过度期。

罗克强今天的众市议员的陪同下，巡视尖山警察局，巴都吉当再也，甘榜双溪登雅及上湾头等地方，同时，也与疏散到上述地方的灾黎嘘寒问暖，深切问候。

罗克强指出，疏散的灾民部份是小孩子，遇到这种潮湿天气，小孩子很容易就生病，因此，人联党圣淘沙支部将会给予最大的援助，协助居民渡过难关。

人联募得救济品发挥作用

他说，人联党圣淘沙支部于两个星期前就在七哩圣淘沙及煤炭路举行救灾布施活动，原本这些物即将要送往巴南振灾，但由于物品尚未运转，因此，就留在这次水灾之用。

今早振灾的物品包括衣服，饼干，牛奶，米，饮用水，面包及面等物品。

罗克强感谢到场协助的砂人联党中央妇女组名誉主席兼顾问郑券薲到场协助灾民及协调这次的救灾用品。

KUCHING: Blocks 1, 2 and 3 have been completed at the P’ Residence project in the new growth node of Batu Kawah for the opening of ‘The Clubhouse’ at 2.30pm tomorrow (Jan 20).

MPP irritated by illegal dumping

An illegal dumping site within MPP’s area of jurisdiction is not just unsightly but a public health and environmental hazard.

KUCHING: Padawan Muncipal Council (MPP) expressed annoyance at the recurring indiscriminate dumping of waste.

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang described those who litter the environment indiscriminately as irresponsible and inconsiderate.

He said it was annoying to see heaps of waste dumped on empty land by the roadside and to receive complaints from the public about illegal dumping.

“This kind of people, they don’t care about others. But when solid waste is improperly disposed of, it presents all kinds of hazards.

“Littering and illegal dumping of domestic waste in all forms should be avoided in order to protect the population and the environment from every form of degradation and the people from environmental or health hazards,” he said.

Lo acknowledged it was not easy to bring the culprits to court unless there was solid evidence against them.
He noted culprits would not dispose of waste indiscriminately when enforcement personnel are around.

Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, said education is an effective way to reduce or eradicate illegal dumping.

“There is a pressing need to educate the public on the danger all kinds of solid waste can pose  to the environment, habitats and human life, as well as their responsibility,” he said.

He said everyone can play a part by helping to protect the environment from litter and improper disposal of solid waste.

Among others, he said, the public can play a part by tying or bundling up household trash including broken chairs and tables, and placing them inside or near trash bins; encouraging others to practise proper waste management; and reporting illegal dumping to local authorities.

Lo said it was also important for the public to understand that certain types of solid waste like broken bottles, cups and plastic bags trap rainwater, offering mosquitoes the perfect breeding ground.

He said littering and unregulated dumping of waste could also affect tourism as no one wants to visit a dirty place.

He believed that large-scale illegal dumping can create a space which nobody wants to live in or use for productive ventures like construction and farming.

Lo said among the most common waste being dumped illegally in areas within MPP’s jurisdiction were bulk and mixed waste such as old furniture, carton boxes, plastics, discarded food, scrap tyres, old appliances, construction materials and garden waste.

Illegal dumping is an offence under the Natural Resources Environment Board Ordinance, and punishable by law, carrying the maximum penalty of RM20,000 under Section 30 (1) (a) & (b).

Sunny Hill students pay tribute to Tok Nan

KUCHING: Sunny Hill Secondary School held a special ceremony on Monday to pay tribute to former chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

Education superintendent Brian Scott Padam, who led the prayers, called on everyone to ponder the meaning of time and reflect on how fragile life is.

“We know that we are all creatures of time, but our time should not be measured in just hours, months and years. Tok Nan lived for only 72 years if we measure his time,” he said.

“Some of us sit here thinking that he has lived to his fullest while others feel that his life was cut short. Perhaps instead our life should be measured by the relationships we have with others.”

Meanwhile, Batu Kitang assemblyman and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP)  chairman Lo Khere Chiang pledged to protect a 46-acre plot approved by Adenan for a park project in Batu Kawa, dedicating it in his memory.

“He showed us the Adenan Way and left behind a legacy and a challenging task for his predecessor to inherit,” he said.

MPP lauded for swift action

KUCHING: Irresponsible people have been throwing rubbish inside a manhole at the Kota Sentosa Commercial area and traders there who saw it requested Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief, Wilfred Yap to have the manhole covered as the debris are blocking the surrounding drains. The manhole was also covered with grasses.

 Yap went to inspect and assess the situation with the community leader and officers of the public health section of MPP and also to see what can be done to resolve the problem raised by them.

 Workers from MPP engineering and road maintenance section have now replaced the manhole cover and MPP is now in the process of getting its contractor to clear the grass of the road verge and also to clear the drains of rubbish.

 Yap thanked MPP officers for their speedy action in solving the problem and would like to advise the traders and owners of business premises there to cooperate and be considerate in future and not to throw rubbish or organic materials and waste into drains so as not to impede the water flow.

From his observation, Yap said he hoped that shophouse owners in Kota Sentosa area would comply with the building by-laws and would only carry out renovation works like covering up drains with cement after obtaining approval from MPP to avoid uneven levels of drains which could impede water flow and cause blockages.

KUCHING: Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Batu Kitang Lo Khere Chiang terkenang akan pergorbanan bekas pemimpin nombor satu Sarawak Allahyarham Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem yang sentiasa men-dahulukan rakyat. 

Beliau berkata Tok Nan benar-benar menyayangi rakyat dengan meluluskan tanah seluas 46 ekar untuk dimajukan sebagai sebuah taman di Batu Kawa pada Pilihan Raya Ne-geri yang lepas. 

“Saya tidak dapat mencari kata-kata sempurna untuk menggambarkan nilai Datuk Patinggi Adenan dalam hati rakyat di sini tetapi saya akan cuba dengan menceritakan satu insiden yang berlaku pada suatu pagi hari Sabtu. 

“Ia adalah sebelum Pilihan Raya Negeri yang lepas. Dengan merasakan apa yang dipinta adalah sangat penting, saya tiba di rumah Adenan sekitar jam 7.30 pagi. 

“Seakan-akan tahu apa yang saya mahukan, dengan wajah yang kelihatan serius tetapi suara yang agak lembut selepas bercakap beliau sukakan idea tersebut. 

“Tidak sampai sebulan kemudian, saya amat terkejut sekali apabila menerima sepucuk surat menerusi pihak majlis di mana Jabatan Tanah dan Survei telah meluluskan secara bertulis tanah seluas 46 ekar tersebut untuk dimajukan sebagai sebuah taman,” katanya ketika berkongsi kenangan pada Majlis Sembahyang Memperingati Allahyarham Adenan di SMS Sunny Hill semalam. 

Dengan tekad itu, beliau kini lebih berazam untuk melindungi sebidang tanah tersebut untuk dimajukan sebagai sebuah taman, seperti apa yang dibayangkan oleh Allahyarham Adenan. 

Allahyarham menurutnya, telah meninggalkan kesan yang amat besar dalam sejarah Sarawak dan Malaysia. 

Beliau kata Lo, menjadikan ‘Adenan Way’ sebagai legasi dan tugasan yang mencabar untuk diwarisi oleh pengganti beliau. 

Kehilangannya menjadikan rakyat kehilangan seorang pemimpin yang berani dan suka berterus terang dengan ketaatan kepada prinsip yang menjadi lambang perpaduan dan kestabilan bagi Sarawak. 

“Adenan merupakan guru saya yang paling hebat dan beliau berkali-kali meng-ingatkan saya untuk bekerja lebih rajin bagi mendapatkan kepercayaan dan kasih sayang rakyat. 

“Kepada Adenan, saya akan mengabdikan karier politik saya untuk meneruskan impian beliau, wawasan beliau bagi satu Sarawak di mana semua kaum dan agama hidup dalam harmoni. 

“Saya akan melatih dan menggerakkan rakyat Batu Kitang sebagai kekuatan utama saya untuk menerus-kan perjuangannya ini bagi mewujudkan sebuah negeri Sarawak yang lebih baik untuk semua masyarakat,” tambahnya semalam. 

Beliau bekerja tanpa mementingkan diri demi kebaikan semua rakyat Sarawak. Beliau telah menyerahkan

KUCHING: Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Batu Kitang Lo Khere Chiang percaya kepada keputusan pucuk pimpinan tertinggi negeri bagi memutuskan siapa yang layak menyandang jawatan Timbalan Ketua Menteri Sarawak. 

Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditanya pemberita untuk mengulas kenyataan, cadangan dan desas-desus bahawa Presiden SUPP Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian sedang memancing jawatan tersebut. 

“Sejujurnya saya tidak berada di peringkat atasan untuk menjawab pertanyaan ini dan kita tidak dapat menjangka apa yang akan berlaku selepas ini. 

“Tetapi kita percaya pe-mimpin negeri hari ini termasuk Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) berupaya membuat keputusan yang baik untuk semua. 

“Sarawak sentiasa diberkati dengan banyak pe-mimpin yang berkaliber dan kita akan mendapat manfaat yang banyak berbanding negeri lain,” katanya kepada pemberita semalam. 

Lo juga mengiyakan pertanyaan pemberita sekiranya setiap pemimpin di negeri ini mempunyai kelebihan masing-masing. 

Pada masa yang sama, beliau turut bersyukur kerana pelantikan Ketua Menteri yang baharu mendapat sokongan padu para pe-mimpin dan rakyat jelata. 

Jelasnya, kepimpinan Sarawak diberkati dengan parti kuat komponen BN yang juga salah satu daripada tulang belakang Barisan Nasional (BN) mempunyai pemimpin yang berkaliber. 

“Saya sangat percaya Ketua Menteri yang baharu akan dapat menggalas dan meneruskan perjuangan dan kerja yang telah Allahyarham Adenan mulakan. 

“Beliau pasti mempunyai cara beliau sendiri untuk membawa negeri ini lebih maju sebagaimana Allahyarham Adenan yang mempunyai cara tersendiri mengurus negeri. 

Sokongan terhadap Ketua Menteri baharu menunjukkan perpaduan kaum di negeri ini kerana tidak ada pemimpin di dalam dunia yang mampu memimpin tanpa ada perpaduan ter-sebut,” tambahnya. 

Lo yang juga pengerusi Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) berkata beliau akan membantu pentadbiran baharu agar semuanya berjalan dengan lancar dan Sarawak akan sentiasa kukuh.

真光中学主办一项追悼会，追悼已故前首长丹斯里阿迪南沙登。

（本报古晋17日讯）位于古晋三哩的真光中学今早主办一项追悼会，追悼已故前首长丹斯里阿迪南沙登。
真光中学师生、校友会以及家教协会超过200人，集合在学校礼堂以敬拜赞美与献花方式来怀念这位全民首长所作出的伟大贡献。除此，在追悼会期间，也播放关于已故丹斯里阿迪南沙登出席活动场面的影片。
活动主宾峇都吉当区州议员兼巴达旺市议会主席罗克强在致词时表示，已故丹斯里阿迪南沙登的离去，让砂州失去了伟大的领袖，在此，他向潘斯里查米拉及其家属致上哀悼。

当时还穿着沙龙
他回忆说，去年州选举的某天周六上午7时30分，自己登门拜访当时的首长丹斯里阿迪南沙登，由于时间还很早，当时阿迪南沙登还穿着沙龙，自己才意识到太早过去打扰了。
不过当阿迪南沙登得知其前来的目的后，便以平时严肃表情，但亲切的声音要求他说出来。当时罗克强提呈一份在石角兴建公园的计划书，不到一个月，巴达旺市议会收到一封土地测量局的信件，批准市议会以46英亩的地段来兴建公园。

把精神投入发展砂
他称，已故丹斯里阿迪南沙登是很好的老师，提醒他要不断努力，以获取人民的信任。对此，他将会好好为该区奋斗，为更好的砂拉越而努力。
他续强调，已故阿迪南沙登爱砂拉越这片土地，将其灵魂及全部精神投入在发展砂州，为了砂州子民的未来。鉴于此，罗克强希望该校学生将已故阿迪南沙登视为学习榜样。

（本报古晋17日讯）人联党巴都吉当区州议员罗克强相信新任首长拿督阿玛阿邦佐哈里也会与已故首长阿德南一样，带领砂州继续前进。

他指出，每个人都有不一样的领导方式，阿德南有他的领导方式，阿邦佐哈里也有其不同的领导方式，但可以肯定的是，后者将会延续已故阿德南在位时所建立下的良好基础去施政。

罗克强今早出席三哩真光中校所主办的一项已故阿德南追悼会受访时，如是指出。
他说，我们不能要求每个人的做法都一样，但更重要的是在砂州我们拥有许多很好的领袖，他们都有能力领导砂州，且大家都能和气团结一致，否则对砂州是没有好处的。

“我们砂州人民懂得团结的重要性，所以我们可以看到土保党能很快选出接班人，且决定后大家都能一致给予支持。”

针对接下来的州内阁改组及对该党主席拿督沈桂贤与副首长职的期盼一事，罗克强坦言他自己不敢有什么期盼，因为他只是一个小领袖，但他有信心砂州往后的日子在新任首长及州元首泰益玛目的领军下，任何决定都不会错。

而他本身也会做好巴都吉当区州议员的角色，照顾好当地人民的福祉，尽力协助阿邦佐哈里。
