MPP Chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that the abandoned projects are usually those condominiums that do not have a proper management corporation to look after the property.
“I believed through this cooperation, not only will Sheda and the council benefit but the people as well,” he said during the Second Sheda Kuching Branch Home and Property Roadshow 2015 at Boulevard Shopping Mall, yesterday.
On Sheda Kuching Branch’s courtesy visit to him on August this year, he reiterated that if there are technical issues faced by the private developers, MPP can organised a dialogue session with Sheda to resolve any of those technical problems or suggestion for improvement.
“We can work things out with the property consultants or developers to improve our delivery system to the public,” he said.
On another note, Lo said that as housing is a basic commodity and it plays a very important role in the local economy, Sheda therefore is one the key players in keeping the local economy going by providing a variety of housing to the general public.
“Not only providing basic commodity to the public, but also creating employment from manufacturing of building materials to service industries such as construction, state agencies, professional consultancies, planners, architects, engineers, surveyors, and lawyers,” he stressed.
“This is an important message to Sheda to keep on spinning the property industry wheel to keep the local economy going,” he added. Noting the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme,
Lo commended Sheda Kuching Branch for their kind contribution by giving donations to the NGOs aside from holding the property roadshow.
Yesterday, Sheda Kuching Branch donated RM16,000 cash to three NGOs namely Sarawak Society for the Deaf, Mental Health Association of Sarawak and Kuching Life Care Society which are also participating in the roadshow.
Another Sheda member, Regal International Group has also given out donation to the three NGOs as part of their CSR. Over 50 exhibitors consisting of Sheda members and non-members are taking part in the three days roadshow, which has about 70 booths showcasing properties from East to West Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Today will be the last day of the property roadshow and members of the public are encouraged to visit the NGOs’ booths where the Mental Health Association of Sarawak is giving a free mental health screening to public.
The Sarawak Society for the Deaf is selling some crafts and goodies made by their crafty members. Kuching Life Care Society together with Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank is also jointly organising the Blood Donation Drive at 10.00am till 2.00pm.
There is also a colouring section for the children. Among those present were Sheda Kuching Branch Treasurer Dr. Richard Tan, who is also the property roadshow organising chairman, Sheda State Chairman Joseph Wong, Sheda Kuching Branch Chairman Dr. Christopher Ngui, and Sheda Kuching Branch Advisor Sim Kiang Cheok.
