Police, MPP to wipe out illegal gambling in Padawan

KUCHING: The Padawan district police will be working closely with Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) in eradicating illegal gambling.
Speaking to reporters after the presentation of certificates of traffic warden to eight MPP personnel here, MPP chairman, Lo Khere Chiang said Padawan District Deputy Police chief, DSP Merbin Lisa had given his assurance that the police would work together with the council to rid the district of illegal gambling.
He said in their effort to eradicate illegal gambling, the police would continue to carry out raids and detained those involved in illegal gambling activities in the district.
Thanking the police for their effort in combating illegal gambling, Lo said it was the task of the police to make arrest while MPP would co-operate in whatever ways needed.
Last month, MPP revoke the licences of four family entertainment centres under its jurisdiction after police had found elements of illegal gambling at the centres.
