All Set For Bengoh Resettlement Scheme Challenge

The Padawan International 4x4
Off-Roaders Extreme Challenge is organised by the Padawan Municipal
Council (MMP) while the Bengoh Cultural Carnival is organised by a
separate committee in collaboration with the Siburan and Padawan
Sub-District Council and various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that
the event was already a successful one as there were 60 teams from
Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, West Malaysia, Sabah and local teams who
have confirmed their participants in the Padawan International 4x4
Off-Roaders Extreme Challenge.
"I would like to encourage locals from
near and far such as Kuching, Miri, Lawas, Limbang and Sabah to come and
witness the event," he said during a press conference here Wedenesday.
Lo said that through the event,
participants from other countries can have an opportunity to visit
beautiful sites in Padawan such as the Anah Rais Longhouse, Benuk
Longhouse, Rafflesia Garden, Biodiversity Centre, Orang Utan and caves.
Meanwhile, organising chairman Wilfred
Yap said various safety aspects of the track composed of slopes and
hills in different height and angels are also being locked into to
ensure it complied with the highest international standard, adding that
the event was sanctioned by the Automobile Association Malaysia (AAM).
Yap said competitors will demonstrate
their ability and skills when showcasing their modified 4x4 vehicle's
flexibility and maneuverability in various types of terrain, rocks, mud
and water.
He said Assistant Minister of Public
Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil will represent Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan
Satem to officiate the opening of the event.
Meanwhile, the Bengoh Cultural Carnival
to be held on the same date and venue is expected to be a crowd puller
since many interesting activities are held, including the final of the
Miss Culture Bengoh on May 23, gong beating and cultural dance
performances as well as exhibition by various government agencies while
stalls are set up to sell food and beverage as well as handicraft.
