500 Visitors at MPP's Tourism Booth at Recent Expo

Padawan Municipal Council ( MPP) recently attracted about 500 visitors from both local and foreign countries, including US and UK, to its tourism promotion booth when it particpated in the Sheda Property Expo 2014 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching from Aug 22 to 24.

According to MPP pubic relations officer, the aim of setting up the booth was to promote the many interesting tourism spots in Padawan that many people were still not aware of.

“For example, Kampung Annah Rais and Kampung Bunuk that have beautiful longhouses and friendly villagers, where tourists just can get down from the bus or car and walk up the longhouse ladders to enjoy the longhouse life,” stated a press statement recently.

It also mentioned MPP had organised many annual events in collaboration with the state Tourism Ministry such as the ‘ Sejijak Mini Regatta’, Borneo Nature Run at Borneo Highlands Resort and the annual Padawan Raft Safari on Aug 3.

MPP also distributed free of charge, full information of Sarawak tourist events and activities magazines, Sarawak Talk 2014 and in-house MPP magazine which ran out of stock by the third day.

“Nature lovers who wish to spend more time or get close to nature and experience kampong life can always stay at the many homestays available in Padawan.

“Tourists who come during the right time can witness the biggest flower — the Rafflesia — in Kampung Temurang while on their way to Kampung Annah Rais or enjoy the cool crystal clear water and beautiful waterfalls with beautiful natural greens around them.”

MPP is committed to organising more community-based activities aimed at getting tourists closer to the community besides encouraging them to have fun and enjoy nature in Padawan.
