Fire Victims Receive Support From Various Parties

PADAWAN: The family of five, whose single-storey house was partially destroyed in an afternoon fire at Mile 10, Jalan Landeh here, received relief packages from various parties today (June 12).
Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang was among those who offered help to the family in need following the 12.30pm incident yesterday (June 11).
Also assisting the family with aid packages were the Kuching Social Welfare Department, Mile 10 Market Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and the Kota Padawan Hock Teck Temple.
In a brief statement, Lo expressed his gratitude to the Kuching Division Disaster Management Committee, Kuching District Office, Siburan fire station, the Kuching Social Welfare Office and other parties for their generosity in helping the fire victims.
Accompanying Lo to hand over the aid packages to the fire victims were Temenggong Datuk Tan Joo Phoi, Penghulu Lim Eng Huat, Kapitan Lim Eng Kok, Cr Shirley Pui, Cr Alvin Chong and members of the Mile 10 Market JKKK.
In the unfortunate incident, Liew and four of his family members managed to evacuate to safety when the fire occurred.
The flames had caused about 60 per cent damages to his house. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
