Lo keeps mum over service extension

KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang on Sunday kept mum about whether his tenure will be renewed upon expiry.
Met by journalists, he said not just his chairmanship but all councilors’ current term would expire this coming Dec 31.
“It is a two-year tenure. And the current term is my fourth as the MPP chairman.
“The current term for all councillors including me expires in December,” he said after attending a function at Hun Nam Siang Tng here.
Lo, who is Batu Kitang assemblyman, was first appointed as the MPP chairman in 2010.
He took over the chairmanship from Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi, who was appointed as an assistant minister during the state cabinet reshuffle then.
Lo recorded his first election victory in Batu Kitang, one of the new seats created during the 2016 state election.
