KUCHING: President of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senator
Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian started off the Chinese New year (CNY) by
revealing his candidates in almost all the party’s seats for the coming
State election (SE) with a number of new young faces.
He said the party took the joyous and auspicious Chinese New Year
occasion to announce its candidates for the 16 Chinese majority seats to
the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s team within
the framework of Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN).
Dr. Sim said for Padungan he would announce the candidate in due course.
In Pending the candidate will be Milton Foo, Batu Lintang (Sih Hua
Tong), Kota Sentosa (Wifred Yap). In Batu Kawa and Batu Kitang, it will
either be Tan Joo Phoi, Lo Khere Chiang or Dr. Sim himself.

which was formerly Datuk David Teng, the new candidate is Central Youth
Secretary general, Teng Ung Wu; Meradong? (Ding Kuong Hiing), Bukit
Assek (Chieng Buong Toon), Dudong (Dato Sri Lee Chung Fatt @ Benny),
Bawang Assan (Robert Lau?Hui Yew), Pelawan (Michael Tiang), Tanjung Batu
(Soo Li Ching), Piasau (Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew), Pujut (Adam Yii Siew
Sang) and in Senadin? will be Datuk?Lee Kim Shin.
Meanwhile, Datuk Francis Harden ak Hollis will defend his seat in
Simanggang.
Dr. Sim said the rest of the Bumi majority seats (including
one new seat allocated to SUPP under BN sharing formula) will be
announced by him and his deputy Datuk Seri Richard Riot.
SUPP, as one of the founding members of BN in 1972, has and will always
stay steadfast and loyal to BN principles and spirits, he pointed out.
“We are blessed with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem
as our fifth chief minister of Sarawak since 1 March, 2014 and we fully
support his leadership,” he added.
Dr. Sim added that SUPP is fully aware that the party has to be strong
in order to strengthen the leadership of Adenan and Sarawak BN.
Stating that no one would want SUPP to win as much as SUPP itself, Dr.
Sim pointed out that SUPP had identified 21 credible and most winnable
candidates for its 21 seats.
Since taking over as president two years ago, Dr. Sim has called to his
leaders to go to the ground and be connected with the grassroots.
He
said the party’s main agenda was to service the people and only by going
to the ground would they be able to do that and bond with the voters.
He has set a good example by working daily on the ground to meet the
people to hear their needs and their problems.
