KUCHING: Fifty members of United People’s
Party (UPP) applied to join Sarawak
United People’s Party (SUPP) last Tuesday.
The group was led by Mr. John Pata after a
dialogue session with SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian at the
Multipurpose Hall of Kampung Tematu.
John Pata said, “We have lost our
confidence with UPP. Moreover, UPP is not a Barisan Nasional (BN) component
party.”
He urged SUPP members who joined UPP before
to return to SUPP which is a BN component party.
“This is because SUPP can bring
infrastructure development to the kampung areas especially Kampung Tematu,” he
said.
He also said there are many UPP members
especially the Bumiputera and Chinese members wanting to leave UPP and join SUPP.
He said SUPP had contributed a lot to
Kampung Tematu including the present multipurpose hall which was contributed by
SUPP when Dato Yong Khoon Seng was the Member of Parliament for Stampin and
Deputy Minister of Works, Malaysia.
