Lo Khere Chiang to strengthen branch, make it more relevant

KUCHING: Newly elected SUPP Kota Sentosa branch chairman Lo Khere Chiang said he would dedicate himself to strengthening the branch and making it more relevant.

Lo was elected at the SUPP Kota Sentosa branch 4th general meeting recently after its former chairman Datuk Alfred Yap decided not to defend the post.

“It’s an honour to be elected SUPP Kota Sentosa branch chairman but it’s also a big task and responsibility for me,” he told The Borneo Post last Sunday night.

Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, commended Yap for his dedication to the branch and party over the years and acknowledged that to mirror what he had contributed thus far would not be an easy task.

“Nevertheless, I will certainly try my best to move forward during these times of difficulty within the party.
“It is also fortunate that over the years, we have been very united in Kota Sentosa branch and I will continue to follow

Datuk Alfred Yap’s footsteps, and strive to strengthen further the branch and party as a whole,” he said.
In his new capacity, Lo will be recruiting young members for the party.

“In order to do so, we will need to strengthen ourselves first, improve and make ourselves relevant.

Hopefully, with my new team, I can achieve these objectives,” he said.

Earlier, Yap expressed his hope that the new committee would give prominence to rebuilding the party and recruiting new members.

“New members are the lifeblood of the party so that should be our priority in addition to rebuilding the party within the next three years,” he said.

During the meeting, the elections for Youth chief and Women chief went without a hitch: Tan Khern Wee succeeding Wilfred Yap for the post of Youth chief while Chung Fong Fui re-elected Women branch chief.
