KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) urges people in its areas of jurisdiction to channel their problems to their councillors.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said the public were encouraged to forward their complaints to the councillors who represented their areas.

“It is for the best that the public bring up their complaints to their respective councillors so that the council can address the issues properly,” Lo told a press conference after a visit to the Desa Wira Market at Jalan Batu Kawa here, yesterday.

He said MPP was doing its best in helping the public, regardless of how big or small the issues were.

“This, of course, is not just the council’s job alone, and it is the cooperation between Land and Survey Department, Department of Irrigation and Drainage and the Public Works Department (JKR),” he said, referring to a drainage issue.

Lo disclosed that MPP had allocated RM380,000 for repairing the drainage systems at Desa Wira Market drainage, along Jalan Desa Wira main and at Lorong 17A5 in Taman Desa Wira.

“The drainage at the market is really in bad condition because people have been dumping rubbish in it and made it very dirty,” he said.

Lo advised the traders at the Desa Wira Market to be more responsible in keeping their market area clean to attract more patrons and visitors to the market.
