MPP sends 11 participants to winter camp in China

December 1, 2017, Friday Borneo Post
KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is sending 11 participants to the winter camp ‘Searching Roots in China’ programme from Dec 12 to 26.
The participants comprise nine youths aged between 12 and 18 and two adults, all from the MPP area, who will leave for China on Dec 11. The group will be led by Cr Amy Tnay, who is the organising chairperson for the programme.
According to MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang, the programme  was a result of the ‘Agreement on Establishment of a Friendly Relationship’ with Yantai City of the People’s Republic of China inked on Oct 18 this year between the two parties.
“The council sees this camp as a platform for exchange programme of culture and youth,” Lo said.
This is the first such programme and Lo hoped that similar programmes be continued in future.
“I hope that a programme of this nature will continue and hopefully we can send more participants.”
Lo, who is Batu Kitang assemblyman, said the camp is organised by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affair of Yantai Municipal Government, which will provide accommodation and food for participants.
