28 media personnel join army for memorable time at Semenggo Camp

KUCHING: A group comprising 28 media practitioners from various agencies here had a memorable time at ‘A Day with The Media’ in conjunction with 60th anniversary of 3rd Infantry Brigade of Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) at Semenggo Camp here recently.
Its commander Brigadier-General Mohamed Bustaman Mat Zin said the programme was organised to foster closer ties between the media and the Malaysian Armed Forces.
It also enhance the image of the Armed Forces among the media, on top of providing exposure and experience to members of the media about the duties and functions of the Armed Forces.
Various activities were carried out throughout the day including a shooting competition, which was won by Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chaing.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, briefly joined in the celebration, which ran from 7am to 2pm.
Members of the media also had the opportunity to have hands-on experience in installing webbing and belt instrument, starting fire with simple elements and trying out various battle costume.
Commanding officer of 11th RAMD Lt Col Salmi Istikh Ahmad, 13th RAMD commanding officer Lt Col Ismahizah Ishak and 10th RRD commanding officer Lt Col Anwar Ahmad were among those present.
