KUCHING: Malaysians should have a positive outlook on the purchase of 49.9 per cent stake in Proton by Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group Co.

Batu Kitang MP Lo Khere Chiang said this at the launching of Chinese kitchen appliances brand Xunda technology and business opportunities and dinner here on Monday.

“Perusahaan Otomobil National Sdn Bhd (PONSB) Chinese CEO Li Chunrong would turn Proton around,” Lo pointed out.

He said with expertise and financial support from Geely, the struggling Malaysian auto manufacturer would be making profit.

He hoped to see more business collaborations between China and Malaysia that would improve the quality of products and increase revenue.

In addition, he encouraged local entrepreneurs to export local products like durian and bird nest to China.

Meanwhile, Lo said Xunda, which is touted as ‘The Kitchen Master of China’, would change the kitchen appliances market environment and there would be good competition and consumers would have more choices.

A specialist in making high quality kitchen appliances, Xunda has opened its first showroom here in Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim, which is also its first showroom in Malaysia.

Euro Trac Sdn Bhd is Xunda’s distributor in Malaysia.

Established in 1984, Xunda, a high-tech private enterprise that integrates scientific research, production, domestic and overseas sale, offers high quality and contemporary designed hood and hob, from table top gas cooker and electric oven to steam oven.

Also present was Malaysia-China Trade Promotion Association deputy president Ivan Zhang who said Malaysia and China had great potential in bringing more common development and prosperity through close cooperation.

He also said by putting China’s technology, expertise, financial support, huge market and Malaysia’s natural resources, agriculture and tourism products together, both sides would achieve huge success.

He added that the association has a team of experts to promote business collaborations between Malaysia and China.

Malaysia has been China’s largest trading partner among Asean members for eight consecutive years and China has been Malaysia’s largest trade partner for seven consecutive years.
