Lo: Sarawak’s peace, harmony makes state special to so many
KUCHING: Sarawak holds a very special place in the hearts of all Sarawakians, regardless whether they live in the state or overseas, says Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang.
He said as a Sarawakian, he understands how proud the people of different religions and races in the state are at being able to live together in peace and harmony.
“We respect each other’s faith and value all humanity regardless of race and religion.
“We celebrate so many special days together and visit our friends during festivities like Deepavali, Gawai, Hari Raya, Christmas, Chinese New Year and so on and so forth.
“There is much joy in our shared diversity,” he said when attending the Bicentennial of the Birth of the Bab celebration at Mile 10, here recently.
In this regard, Lo said MPP will always be a council for people of all religious backgrounds because everyone at the council is united in delivering the best for the various communities they serve.
“On behalf of MPP, I am happy to welcome our Bahá’í brothers and sisters to Padawan and I hope with our combined efforts, we will be able to serve all people of all religions, races and backgrounds,” he added.
Lo revealed that in Kuching alone, there are Bahá’í communities in Kuching North, Kuching South and Padawan.
Bahá’ís all over Sarawak celebrated the birthday of the Báb, the forerunner of the Bahá’í faith, on Tuesday.
