KUCHING: Local neighbourhoods are encouraged to set up their own voluntary patrol units (SRS) to help police run crime-prevention activities.
A crime-prevention patrol conducted by Padawan police at Kampung Semeba late Monday was one of the ways of how the force and the community could work together.
The patrol was led by the district police’s Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) Unit chief Insp Heli John Ngimat, who came together with a team of police personnel from various units.
The local community was led by Kampung Semeba headman Josak Siam, and comprised members of the village’s Neighbourhood Committee (KRT) and its SRS.
“The purpose of this patrol is to foster closer ties between the police and the community, especially in in terms of crime-prevention activities,” said a police spokesperson.
The programme concluded at 1am yesterday – there was no arrest or seizure made during the operation.
