MPP to hold Telaga Air Festival on 21-22

KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP)
will hold its annual ‘Pesta Telaga Air – MPP 2015’ on 21-22 November.
The
event’s organising chairman Haji Kamaruddin Muhd Su’aut said that the event is
held annually at Kampung Telaga Air because it is a tourist spot for MPP.
“Kampung Telaga Air is an attractive area for
both local and foreign tourists, especially during weekends because of the
availability of fresh and inexpensive seafood and the beautiful view of the
sea,” he told a press conference at MPP office at Kota Padawan near here last
Thursday.
He
added that this year State Assemblyman for Pantai Damai Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi
is expected to officiate at the opening of the festival while Minister of
Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Seri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar
would grace the closing ceremony.
Kamaruddin also said the objectives of the
festival were to promote Kampung Telaga Air as one of the tourist destinations
under the jurisdiction of MPP and to foster relationship between MPP and the
local community; to encourage stall operators to set up business during the
festival and also to promote local products such as local snacks and seafood.
“Apart from that, various activities will be
held during the two-day festival such as futsal competition, Telaga Air
Adventure Challenge (TAC), fishing competition and many more.
“There will also be an exhibition by
various government agencies such as
National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Health
Department, Civil Defence Department (JPAM), Fire and Rescue Services Department
(BOMBA) and MPP,” he said.
